Ars is the largest marina on the island. It is a charming but simple town .
Never far are the beaches and the wild coast. Like almost everywhere on the island, vines, fruit, vegetales and cereal are cultivated here.
Salt production and oyster farms are also an important part of the island’s culture.
The first thing you see of Ars from a distance, either by land or sea, is it’s white steeple painted with a black arrow.
This is because before lighthouses were built, it was used to guide boats. Listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, Ars en Ré houses the largest port on the island and has more than 500 docking rings. Life revolves around the port and cafés, the church and the market, which attract lots of visitors. Surrounded on both sides by the sea, salt marshes, market gardens and vines, Ars en Ré is undoubtedly the most delightful town - a balance of simplicity and elegance.
You are sure to fall under its charm.....
